This training offered in collaboration with Kane/DuPage YWCA CCR&R
This training will address the importance and benefits of FCC Membership. Participants will understand the professional growth and personal satisfacation of collaborating, networking, and furthering their early childhood knowledge among their peers.

"Gardening With Kids, From Prep to Harvest"

"Children are fascinated by watching bugs, digging in dirt and seeing things grow.  Gardening is a natural fit, but this is far more than entertainment.  It is a way to teach children about ecology, nutrition and cooperation.  Even math skills and other science skills can be taught through gardening.  As added bonuses, it is a fun way to promote exercise and encourage children to try new foods." "Exploring and Expanding the Building  Blocks of Early Literacy"

This session will provide participants with an overview of the Building Blocks of Early Literacy including: defining early literacy; reviewing brain development findings; and identifying Key Components of Early Literacy:Print Motivation; Phonological Awareness; Vocabulary; Narrative Skills; Print Awareness; and Letter Knowledge.

This session will also give participants "hands-on" opportunity to explore materials that can be used to help enhance children's language and literacy development.

Further Connections offers a fun, informal social and networking opportunity for members. This will be a time for getting questions answered and to get to know your peers better. Further Connections meetings are held at Colonial Cafe at 7:00pm on the Wednesday following our regular monthly meeting.
